Shop parts if you keep your laptop
In most real-world cases, it’s cheaper to replace a Lenovo battery than to buy a new laptop—especially if the laptop is otherwise stable and fast enough. A new laptop makes more sense when you need a major performance upgrade or multiple components are failing.
Replace the battery if…
- Performance is fine, but mobility is gone (short runtime).
- Battery health is low (capacity drop) or shutdowns occur under load.
- You want a quick fix without reinstalling everything.
Buy a new laptop if…
- You’re limited by CPU/RAM/SSD for your current work.
- Multiple costly issues exist (display, hinges, charging port, overheating).
- You want new features and better efficiency overall.
Don’t confuse charging limits with battery failure
Lenovo Vantage may cap charging at 60–80%. That alone is not a reason to buy a new laptop or replace the battery.
If you replace the battery
Match the FRU/Part Number, then confirm V/Wh and connector.
