Replacement options
A Lenovo battery needs replacing when it can’t deliver stable power or enough runtime for your routine. But first, check Lenovo-specific settings like Vantage charging limits and confirm your charger power (especially USB-C PD).
Strong signals it’s time to replace
- Runtime is much shorter than before (same use, same settings).
- Sudden shutdowns at 20–40% (often under load).
- Battery percentage jumps or drains unpredictably.
- Charging is extremely slow or inconsistent.
Lenovo Vantage: rule out charging thresholds
If your battery stops at ~60–80%, check Lenovo Vantage for conservation mode/charging limit. That behavior can be normal.
Confirm with Battery Report
powercfg /batteryreport
Compare Design Capacity and Full Charge Capacity. If full charge is far lower and you have real symptoms, replacement is usually the clean fix.
Pick the correct replacement (avoid wrong orders)
- Match the FRU/Part Number on the old battery.
- Verify V, Wh, connector, and battery shape.
- For some ThinkPads, confirm internal vs external battery.
