Many Lenovo laptops (especially ThinkPad/IdeaPad/Yoga/ThinkBook) can charge via USB-C Power Delivery. But not every USB-C charger is suitable—wattage and PD profiles matter.
How to know if your Lenovo supports USB-C charging
- Look for a USB-C port with a charging icon or power symbol near it.
- Check your laptop model specs (some USB-C ports are data-only).
Wattage: the most common problem
- 45W may be fine for ultrabooks and light use.
- 65W is common for many mainstream Lenovo laptops.
- Gaming/workstations may need higher wattage; underpowered chargers can cause slow charging.
If battery drains while plugged in
That often indicates the charger can’t keep up with power demand. Confirm the right charger wattage before assuming the battery is bad.
