How to choose the right HP laptop charger

HP uses several different charger types even within the same series. To avoid ordering the wrong adapter, please match the output voltage (V), current (A) / wattage (W) and plug size of your original charger:

• 1. Check the label on your original HP adapter.
  On the power brick you will see:
  • Output voltage and current, for example:
    18.5V 3.5A (65W),
    19V 4.74A (90W),
    19.5V 2.31A (45W),
    19.5V 3.33A (65W),
    19.5V 4.62A (90W),
    19.5V 6.15A (120W),
    19.5V 7.7A (150W) or higher for ZBook and Omen.
  • One or more HP spare / part numbers, for example:
    “Replace with HP spare 741727-001”,
    710413-001,
    695192-001,
    901104-001,
    or adapter codes like PPP009L, PPP012D-S,
    PA-1650-32HE, TPN-LA03, TPN-CA06.
  • Often the text “Smart AC Adapter” on newer HP chargers.

  Your new charger should have the same voltage and an equal or higher wattage than the original.

• 2. Identify the HP connector (plug) type.
  HP mainly uses the following DC plugs:
  • 4.5 × 3.0 mm blue tip – slim blue round connector, very common on modern HP 14 / 15 / 17, Pavilion, Envy, ProBook and EliteBook models.
  • 7.4 × 5.0 mm with center pin – larger barrel connector with a pin inside, used on many older Pavilion / ProBook / EliteBook / ZBook and some Omen laptops.
  • 4.8 × 1.7 mm – smaller round plug used on certain older HP notebooks.
  • USB-C Power Delivery (USB-C PD) – for newer Spectre / Envy / ProBook / EliteBook and some Omen models that support USB-C charging.

  The connector of the new adapter must physically fit your laptop, and for Smart AC adapters the center pin is required for correct detection.

• 3. Check the sticker on the bottom of your HP laptop.
  Turn the laptop upside down and look for:
  • The HP model name, such as:
    HP 15-da0xxx, HP 15s-eq2xxx,
    HP 17-by0xxx,
    HP Pavilion 15-ccxxx,
    HP Envy x360 15,
    HP ProBook 450 G7,
    HP EliteBook 840 G5,
    HP Omen 15,
    HP ZBook 15 G3.
  • A Product Number (P/N) like 4TU68EA#ABU which also helps identify the correct charger.
  • On some labels you will also see the required DC rating such as “19.5V 3.33A”.
• 4. Worldwide input voltage and power cord.
  Most HP adapters support AC 100–240V, 50/60Hz, so they can be used worldwide with the correct mains cable. We supply a suitable power cord / plug type according to your delivery country where possible, so you can use the charger straight away.
