How to generate a Windows battery report on your MSI laptop

The battery report is created by a built-in Windows tool called powercfg.
It works on most MSI series, including MSI Modern, Prestige,
Stealth, Raider, Titan, Vector,
Katana, GF / GL / GP gaming series and mobile workstations.
Here are a few common ways to generate it:

Method 1 – Command Prompt (recommended)

1. Press Windows key, type cmd.
2. Right-click Command Prompt and choose Run as administrator.
3. In the black window, paste this command and press Enter:

powercfg /batteryreport /output "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\battery-report.html"

After a few seconds, Windows will create a file called
battery-report.html on your desktop.

Method 2 – PowerShell or Windows Terminal

1. Press Windows key, type PowerShell (or Windows Terminal).
2. Right-click and choose Run as administrator.
3. Run the same command:

powercfg /batteryreport /output "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\battery-report.html"

This does exactly the same thing as Method 1, just in a different shell.

Method 3 – Create a reusable shortcut (optional)

If you check battery health frequently on your MSI laptop, you can create a small script:

1. Create a new text file on your desktop and name it for example msi-battery-report.cmd.
2. Edit it and put this single line inside:

powercfg /batteryreport /output "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\battery-report.html"

3. Save the file and double-click it whenever you want to refresh the report.

Every time you run it, Windows will overwrite battery-report.html with the latest data.

Common MSI laptop battery problems this tool can help you understand

The Windows battery report contains detailed information such as
Design capacity, Full charge capacity and sometimes
Cycle count. By comparing these values, you can understand many typical
battery issues on MSI laptops:

• Battery drains quickly on MSI gaming laptops – If full charge capacity
  has dropped far below design capacity (for example < 60%), your MSI system will
  run out of power much faster than when it was new, especially in high performance modes.
• MSI Stealth / Raider / Titan shuts down suddenly in games – A heavily worn battery
  can no longer provide stable power at low charge levels during gaming or heavy GPU usage,
  causing sudden shutdowns or black screens when unplugged.
• Battery stuck at 60–80% (or not charging to 100%) – Sometimes this is due to

• “Plugged in, not charging” on MSI – This may be related to the AC adapter,
  high-power gaming usage, power profiles or BIOS settings. However, if the battery is very old or has a high cycle count,
  it can also fail to accept charge properly.
• Battery not detected on an MSI laptop – If Windows does not see the battery at all,
  it may be a serious battery or mainboard issue and replacement is usually required.
• High cycle count (many charge cycles) – Many MSI batteries are designed for around
  300–1000 full charge cycles. Gaming and heavy workloads can use up cycles faster, so high cycle count plus wear is normal.
• Battery swelling (bulging bottom case, lifted touchpad / keyboard) – This is a safety issue.
  If you see any physical swelling on your MSI battery, stop using it and replace it immediately.
